Suffolk Public Schools Salary: $26,757 - $34,299 GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
This position assists the School Nutrition Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen and cafeteria to ensure safe and nutritious meals are provided to students and staff. Responsibilities include supervising, training, and scheduling kitchen personnel; managing cash register operations and deposits; completing reports; and conducting inventories. Work environment is primarily indoors with moderate noise and temperature levels. The work is medium exertion, requiring lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. The physical abilities required include manual dexterity, auditory perception, decision-making, verbal communication, physical movements, and visual discernment. Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to recipes. Serve meals and operate the register. Enter Bulk Entry and Inventory data in Titan. Oversee kitchen cleanliness and organize supplies. Handle money, complete paperwork for deposits and records. Order food, produce, and milk online. Interact with teachers, students, and parents regarding lunch accounts. Assist kitchen staff and the Nutrition Menu Planner as needed. Perform general office duties, including bookkeeping and record-keeping. Maintain appearance and adhere to confidentiality and policy guidelines. Maintain attendance and punctuality at 95% or higher. Serve as a role model and work harmoniously with colleagues. Engage in professional growth activities and perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of food service procedures, safety, and sanitation. Knowledge of dietary requirements and kitchen equipment. Proficiency in computer skills (Windows, Excel, Google, Word). Effective time management, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to adapt, handle criticism, and develop constructive outcomes. Ability to operate and train staff on equipment. Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two years of related experience preferred. ServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain. Additional Information
