Trusts & Estates Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Boulder)
Hutchinson Black and Cook, LLC, a downtown Boulder law firm with over 100 years of experience, is hiring an Estate Planning Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support our growing Trusts and Estates team and, when needed, our estate administration and probate team.
Role Description The key responsibilities for this position include:
Establish new client matters and maintain client files
Draft estate planning documents and client letters
Prepare deeds, assignments, and other documents, and e-record/e-file them
Prepare and file entity formation documents
Facilitate preparation of estate planning documents for client signing meetings; attend meetings as witness or notary; copy and scan signed documents; prepare closing book for original documents; and transmit executed documents electronically
Communicate regularly with clients via phone and email
Draft documents and correspondence related to probate matters
Assist with collection, allocation, transfer, and/or re-tilting of assets
Prepare and file pleadings with the Court when necessary
Create reminders and track progress for various filing deadlines
Coordinate with insurance companies, financial advisors, etc. during the course of the administration
Qualifications
Well-organized with exceptional attention to detail
Professional and collaborative work style
Passion for learning
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (including OneDrive) and document management (e.g., NetDocs)
Able to manage multiple client matters independently
Strong communication skills and empathy
Professional client manner
5+ years’ experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and participation in the firm’s 401(k) plan. Additional benefits include paid downtown Boulder parking, generous PTO, and a sabbatical program for staff. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $72,000, depending on experience.
