Student and Family Intervention Specialist (Bilingual)

About The Role Applicants will be eligible for the Early Childhood/Elementary School Student and Family Intervention Specialist role (Kindergarten through 4th Grade) or the Middle School Student and Family Intervention Specialist role (5th Grade to 8th Grade). The Student and Family Intervention Specialist will perform professional-level social work within the team at one of TEP's campuses. This individual will support students and families in a variety of ways, including attendance intervention programming, restorative practices, and behavioral supports. TEP works closely with students and families throughout the course of the year to ensure strong attendance and academic success. Each Specialist focuses on supporting and collaborating with students and families while prioritizing their own professional growth. This role offers an opportunity to deepen clinical expertise and work alongside a team of expert clinicians. This is an on-site, in-person position at one of TEP's campuses in the Washington Heights/Inwood community of NYC. The Early Childhood / Elementary School
Student and Family Intervention Specialist
will work in spaces designed to support emotional and social development, including classrooms and Social Work offices. The Middle School
Student and Family Intervention Specialist
will work in a state-of-the-art environment designed to spark joy and learning, with a Social Work suite, a full gymnasium, a high-tech performing arts space, and an indoor/outdoor cafe for meals. Prevention/Intervention Programming: track daily attendance/tardies and develop year-long intervention programming to motivate regular attendance; monitor factors influencing attendance; conduct family meetings to address obstacles; create interventions to improve bus safety; lead mediations using restorative practices. Behavioral Supports: coordinate communication with grade-level social workers, teachers, families, and students; support students in the Social Work "Reflection Space"; lead outreach to families in response to behavior infractions; respond to day-to-day challenges and low-level crises; design interventions for recurring challenges. Qualifications (About You)
Language Proficiency: Complete fluency in Spanish required Alignment with TEP’s mission to provide world-class mental health services and social work interventions to historically under-resourced student communities Social Work experience: experience working with children and families; preference for school settings Ability to design and implement in-school prevention programming per current best practices Ability to manage family and student communications while prioritizing multiple urgent tasks Education: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, human services, or education preferred; candidates with other degrees are welcome Certification: No specific licensing required beyond educational/experience preferences Why TEP (Benefits)
