POSITION The Cardiometabolic Account Specialist (CAS) is a field-based role responsible for the launch of Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product within the territory. The CAS will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare market and the Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) community, including the key customers and accounts treating cardiovascular and lipid-related diseases.
RESPONSIBILITIES The CAS will understand the unique objectives and needs of each customer and will achieve this by building, maintaining, and leveraging networks and relationships in the local healthcare system to develop and execute effective business plans.
Customer Engagement and Experience
Educate HCPs and office staff to raise FCS disease state awareness and instill an urgency to treat FCS.
Create positive prescribing experience through value-added resourcing and patient support materials and programs.
Participate in conferences, congresses, and other scientific meetings to educate HCPs on FCS disease state and treatment.
Market Knowledge
Gather insights to profile accounts and provide feedback to field leadership and marketing.
Understand local referral networks, including primary and secondary treaters and referral patterns for FCS patients.
Identify, validate, and document potential HCPs treating FCS patients to inform commercial strategy.
Account Planning
Execute brand strategic plans by developing and executing customer-focused territory strategic account plans.
Build insight-driven focused tactics by understanding brand requirements and anticipating customer needs.
Adjust strategies to meet business goals in the assigned region through territory strategic insight.
Develop strategic account plans in conjunction with field and brand leadership to appropriately engage accounts.
Training and Teamwork
Participate in field meetings and training programs to understand brand messaging and customer engagement tactics.
Certify on approved label, compliance training, and all applicable customer engagement policies.
Learn and adhere to Ionis policies and the Ionis Code of Ethics.
Partner with cross-functional teammates to address customer needs and ensure compliance.
Leverage platforms and technology to compliantly engage customers through multiple channels and enhance their overall experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years of experience in pharma sales in the following areas: new product launches, account-based selling, HCP and IDN engagement, cross-functional field team coordination, and independent territory management.
Background in cardiology, endocrinology, and other sub-specialties that treat FCS patients.
Familiarity with Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) community.
Established relationships with key opinion leaders and major accounts.
Ability to analyze market data and develop territory strategies.
Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to addressing patient needs.

The pay scale for this position is $140,000 to $160,000.
