2025-2026 K-12 Intervention Specialist (Multiple Positions Available!)
Apply to join Fairfield County Educational Service Center as a 2025-2026 K-12 Intervention Specialist. The role supports students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities, develops academic skills as determined by the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), and delivers quality instruction, interventions, and accommodations in a safe and optimal learning environment.
Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate or higher degree in an approved program for special education.
Valid Ohio license.
HQT.
Strong knowledge of IDEA requirements/guidelines and Ohio’s Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities.
Required criminal background check.
Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
Performance Responsibilities
Provide an appropriate educational program in accordance with adopted State Board of Education rules and Fairfield County ESC policies and procedures.
Develop, implement, and evaluate an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for each student in the class, including parent goals.
Use a variety of instructional strategies, interventions, and accommodations to improve student success in school.
Provide clear objectives for all lessons and projects and clearly communicate the objectives to the students.
Administer and adhere to IDEA requirements/guidelines and the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities.
Consult with administrative and supervisory personnel regarding progress and problems of students and the program.
Work cooperatively with other classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of students to assure integration into the total school program.
Responsible for the collection of data to provide appropriate classroom instruction, accommodations, and/or interventions.
Coordinate with supervisor for all necessary testing requirements, schedules, accommodations, alternate assessments, etc.
Assess students’ progress, expectations, and goals to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration, and develop remediation plans.
Inform parents and/or legal guardians of student progress and develop methods for improvement and reinforce classroom goals in the home environment.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences and respond to parent communication in a timely manner.
Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
Respond to emergency situations and direct appropriate personnel for resolution.
Recommend policies, procedures, and programs essential to the needs of children with special needs.
Assist in screening, evaluating, and placement of children and the transition of a student to other programs.
Consult with nurse, psychologists, speech/language pathologist, audiologist, and other specialists working with students and keep supervisor abreast of all issues and/or concerns.
Organize physical space of classroom for effective instruction.
Keep records of attendance, progress, and all other records pertinent to the program and Fairfield County ESC record‑keeping procedures.
Maintain, oversee, and recommend repair or purchase of specialized learning equipment for use by faculty and students.
Undertake continuing professional study, including participation in the activities of professional organizations, enrollment in university level classes, and personal investigation of current literature pertinent to children with disabilities.
Attend in‑service training sessions, as assigned by Fairfield County ESC Supervisor or Superintendent/Designee.
Comply with policies and procedures established by the Fairfield County ESC and the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

Knowledge of Ohio’s Learning Standards and IDEA Requirements.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Ability to communicate ideas and directions clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Organizational and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to generate correspondence independently.
Respects confidences shared by the staff and operates in a discreet manner in all related matters.
Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the Superintendent/Designee directs.
Additional Working Conditions
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Occasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
Occasional alternative/flexible hours/days.
Occasional travel.
Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may need to assist with behavioral interventions.
Occasional interruption of duties by staff and/or telephone.
Occasionally required to assist and lift children with mobility, medical, and physical needs, and occasionally assist with getting children on and off transportation vehicles.
Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion.
