ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE: Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work. The role of a General Merchandise Expert can provide you with the: Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals As a General Merchandise Expert, responsibilities commonly include the following: Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete daily tasks Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs Thank guests and welcome them to Target Execute daily tasks to receive products, restock shelves, organize backroom, arrange merchandise, and put up promotional signs for GM areas Operate power equipment if certified Change prices, set up and maintain merchandise, and ensure inventory accuracy as directed Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability Be knowledgeable about total store resources, products, and services to solve issues and improve guest experience Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance Work safely; comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct where possible Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes, ensuring compliance with adult beverage laws where applicable All other duties based on business needs What we are looking for You enjoy interacting and helping others, including guests and team members You thrive in a fast-moving, highly active and physically demanding role where teamwork, flexibility, and problem solving are key You are open to a flexible work schedule with varying hours or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and peak times) Skills we look for from the start Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate scanners and other technology as directed Ability to work independently and with a team Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment while completing multiple tasks Basic requirements and expectations Accurately handle cash register operations as needed Climb ladders as required Move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to work in varying temperatures and elements while performing duties Remain mobile for the duration of a shift Target will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the San Francisco and City of Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinances.
