ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE: Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.
As a General Merchandise Expert, you will gain knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the store. You will understand retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement. You will execute daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.
Typical responsibilities may include the following:
Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests during daily tasks and assisting with their needs.
Engage with guests to solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
Receive products, restock shelves, organize the backroom, arrange merchandise, and put up promotional signs for GM areas.
Operate power equipment certified to move merchandise or store fixtures as needed.
Execute processes such as price changes, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by leadership.
Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking/packing orders, delivery to pickup guests) while ensuring compliance with laws.
All other duties based on business needs.

Physical and schedule requirements:
Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
Ability to climb ladders and move merchandise safely; frequently lift/move up to 44 pounds without assistance.
Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance.
Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout).
Must be able to stay mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
