The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a field-based, customer-facing role focused on identifying and developing enduring relationships with current and emerging key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the U.S. rare genetic metabolic bone disease community. The TLL will collaborate with internal and external functions (e.g., Regional Sales Manager, field professionals, home office teams in Marketing, Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Sales, and Market Access) and implement a National KOL Strategy and Engagement plan in partnership with the Brand Team and cross-functional stakeholders. Responsibilities
Essential Functions: Identify and Engage HCPs The TLL will identify and establish engagement opportunities with product advocates and regional/national influencers to educate and support patients. Responsibilities include monitoring HCP treatment patterns via sales data and publications, syndicating insights with appropriate teams, and assisting in developing educational and other commercial activities. The TLL will identify and train appropriate speakers on the commercial message within their region. Key Deliverables Identify and develop regional and national KOLs across Endocrine, Nephrology and other rare disease specialties. Help establish Kyowa Kirin as a leader in the U.S. rare metabolic bone disease space. Uncover gaps in patient care. Serve as a conduit between Home Office and the KOL community. Engage HCPs to identify potential patient ambassadors. Coordinate engagement opportunities with identified physicians in collaboration with Marketing; assist with HCP recruitment for service arrangements through the applicable customer engagement process. Collaborate with Thought Leaders to obtain feedback for marketing strategies and provide field-based intelligence to internal stakeholders. Identify and develop KOLs/HCPs for Speakers Bureaus and other commercial projects (theaters, webinars, materials, training). Partner with Sales & Marketing to assess speaker utilization and ensure internal guideline compliance. Attend local, regional & national speaking engagements; summarize effectiveness and coordinate follow-up with HCPs, Sales, and Marketing. Support commercial ad board activities. Organize sponsorships for Grand Rounds and similar events. Scientific Congress Management: Manage regional and national congresses as primary home-office contact for budgeting, contracting, logistics, attendance, pull-through and KOL meetings. Center of Excellence (COE): Develop and implement COE engagement plans with cross-functional teams. Facilitate interaction of senior leadership with regional and national KOLs. Support multidisciplinary team development with the TLL. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Science (or equivalent) required. Advanced degree preferred. Experience: 7+ years in Field Sales, Product Marketing, and/or Medical Affairs within pharmaceutical or biotech; rare disease experience preferred. Ability to identify up-and-coming HCPs and top-tier HCPs for collaborations or educational efforts benefiting patients. Experience in Endocrinology/Nephrology preferred. Normal office environment; up to 75% domestic and international travel. Willing to attend customer meetings on weeknights and weekends up to 30% of the time. Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated salary for this position is $178,500 to $233,100. Actual salary will reflect experience, skill set, qualifications, education, location, and business needs.
