As a Client Account Manager for our Water Practice in Central Texas, you will have the opportunity to impact strategic business relationships with key clients, collaborating with our Jacobs colleagues to maintain a high level of client service to achieve client satisfaction and bring the strengths of the industry-leading Jacobs business offering to our clients. Your focus will be to make sure that Jacobs is the client’s firm-of-choice for municipal, regional, and other water clients in Central Texas, ensuring a thorough understanding of client needs and positioning Jacobs as their best advocate. This role involves leading select water client accounts for municipal and state government water industry clients near Austin and San Antonio, collaborating with delivery teams to sustain existing workload and develop strategies for transformational work such as design-build and operational contracts. The position is based out of San Antonio, Austin, or nearby. During your time with us, you will:
Serve as the point of contact for client service activities and develop strategies to grow the water practice in Central Texas. Work with the Geographic Water Market Growth Director to align strategy within the broader West Central portfolio. Identify, charter, and lead client service teams of project managers and practice leaders around shared success goals. Build deep, valuable relationships with clients and Jacobs personnel to foster broad-based collaboration. Advocate for clients by engaging the firm to address needs and recommending strategic actions to grow business and market share. Identify opportunities for higher engagement with executive sponsors. Secure management commitment and attract key staff for pursuits. Work with leaders to develop hiring strategies, pursue key projects, and promote office and team growth. Engage with project and sales teams to influence pursuit strategies, proposals, and presentations. Coordinate sales processes, including go/no-go decisions, and develop sales strategies aligned with opportunities. Participate in industry and community engagement to build relationships and enhance Jacobs' brand. We value collaboration and believe in-person interactions are vital for our culture and delivery. Our hybrid work policy allows employees to split their time between offices and remote work to maximize performance. What you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or planning related to water, or equivalent work experience. At least 15 years of experience in engineering or related disciplines in the water sector. Proven track record of coordinating teams and winning work statewide within Texas. Strong existing relationships with water clients and a history of successful project wins. Sales knowledge for identifying contracts, responding to RFPs, and winning work. Ability to collaborate with diverse internal teams and develop partnerships. Leadership skills, technical writing proficiency, and client presentation experience. Recognition as a leader in the Texas water market and active community involvement. Ideally, you’ll also have:
Proven ability to develop key client relationships at all levels. Leadership skills to set vision, motivate teams, and achieve sales goals. Influence-based leadership style. High emotional intelligence and solutions-oriented thinking. Client political savviness and technical project management experience. Salary Range
