We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Full-time Accountant with expertise in construction accounting and job costing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing costs, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making processes within our organization. This role will work directly with the Controller. Key Responsibilities
General Accounting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company Prepare and post journal entries Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures Prepare financial statements and reports
Construction-specific Accounting:
Implement and maintain job costing systems for construction projects Track and analyze project costs, including materials, labor, and overhead Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules Monitor and report on project profitability Assist in the preparation of bid estimates and project budgets Manage construction-specific financial reporting requirements
Job Costing:
Develop and maintain job cost accounting systems Allocate direct and indirect costs to specific projects Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs Prepare job cost reports for management review Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking Identify areas for cost savings and process improvements
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Conduct financial analysis to support management decision-making Prepare and present financial reports to senior management Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
Required Background
Bachelors degree Minimum 4 years in a recent staff accountant role Must have recent construction industry accounting background Company located on NW side of San Antonio, in-office role. Company does offer benefits.
