The position is currently located in Juneau, with potential assignment to Anchorage or Juneau depending on the location of the most qualified candidate. Two locations may be involved. What you will be doing

In the Grant Administrator 1/2 Flex role, you will manage grants that support vital health programs across Alaska. The role requires strong writing, critical thinking, and communication skills, with a passion for public engagement. You will work with a variety of organizations, developing skills in grant management while receiving growth opportunities. The team fosters a flexible, supportive, and respectful environment that prioritizes professional growth. Training includes 1:1 time with an experienced Grant Administrator and other leaders, learning grant administration processes, using the internal grant management software program (GEMS), shadowing meetings with grantees and program managers, processing payment requests, drafting requests for proposals, and understanding how the department functions within the Financial Management Services Section of the Department of Health. Daily interactions occur via telephone, email, Microsoft Teams, or in person to foster collaboration. Who we are looking for

Grants Administrator 1 Accounting:

Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods. Analysis and Assessment:

Uses information technology to access, collect, analyze, maintain, and disseminate data and information. Attention to Detail:

Thorough and detail-oriented. Interpersonal Skills:

Treats others with courtesy and respect; responds to the needs and feelings of others. Reasoning:

Identifies rules and relationships; analyzes information and draws correct conclusions. Equivalent to those typically gained by any combination of preparatory education and/or experience in accounting, grants administration, budget administration, procurement, or administrative support. Grants Administrator 2 Successful completion of formal training as Grants Administrator 1 with the State of Alaska, or any combination of education/experience providing competencies in: Accounting Compliance Grants Management Reasoning Technical Competence Equivalent to the above, with the addition of a formal training plan and related experience. Additional Required Information : At the time of the interview, please provide three professional references, a copy of academic transcripts (unofficial ok with institution name/URL), and a technical writing sample. This position is flexibly staffed with two levels; starting salary will be determined by the level. The applicant pool may be used for future vacancies for up to 90 days.
