The Assistant Dean of Finance will oversee office workflow, maintain the operating budget of the school, and provide budgetary guidance to department chairs, unit directors, and principal investigators. Supervisory Authority
Leads related technical tasks and reports to higher officials Principal Accountabilities
Consult with units to prepare operating budgets based on performance and revenue estimates Analyze departmental expenditures versus budget allocations and recommend actions Provide budget analysis, financial reports, reconciliations, and problem resolution Attend budget meetings and complete budget prep work at the beginning of the fiscal year Assist with developing budget targets and assigning proper cost center codes Monitor revenue and expense accounts to identify problem accounts and resolve differences with accounting Track accounting accruals for year‑end and perform data analysis using tables, graphs, and statistics Coordinate sponsored program administration and budget with the centralized sponsored program office Assist with management of departmental grants, including supplier creation in Workday, entering requisitions, costing allocations, and grant payments Process graduate assistant paperwork, track hires and terminations, and maintain personnel records in Workday Enter all departmental requisitions, monitor the budget for inconsistencies, and ensure spending remains within limits Prepare budget documents for signature by proper university officials and assist in report preparation for meetings Perform other related duties as required Core Competencies
Knowledge of fiscal and budget policies and procedures Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation software Skill in manipulating numbers, managing financial transactions, and applying advanced mathematics Excellent oral and written communications with the ability to speak clearly and assist in budget forecasting and deficit analysis Ability to maintain accurate electronic accounting records and apply strict confidentiality regarding budget issues Ability to establish effective working relations with staff, university officials, and the public Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a closely related field and a minimum of 2–5 years of relevant experience. Five years of related work experience may substitute for educational qualifications. Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
Expected Salary Range: $70,000 – $78,000
