We seek an experienced accounting professional who is proactive, self-directed, capable of working independently and as part of a team, and who sets a high standard for themselves and their work. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to RPA’s values of integrity, diversity, quality, and trust. RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnering with the CFO, the Controller designs, implements, and manages internal controls and financial policies and procedures. The Controller serves as a resource on finance and accounting best practices and provides financial education to the finance team and the broader organization. The Controller provides leadership, guidance, professional development, and supervision to the accounting team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manages the closing process for monthly financial activities, including the preparation and analysis of the balance sheet and statement of activities. Reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations. The role oversees all aspects of the general ledger, including revenue accounting, accounts payable, investment allocations, and fee assessments. The Controller manages the external audit process, reviews and prepares audit workpapers, serves as the main contact for auditors, and prepares the audited financial statements. Additionally, the Controller gathers information and prepares detailed analyses for Form 990 filings. The Controller is responsible for regulatory compliance related to 1099 production, A-133 audits, and the 990 tax return. This role collaborates closely with operations staff and relationship managers, answering inquiries and providing financial information. It also supports budgeting and forecasting activities as needed. The Controller works with vendors to support financial software and develops business processes to optimize workflow and internal controls. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting; CPA required. Technical Skills and Experience Strong commitment to RPA’s values and mission Minimum 5 years of relevant management experience in non-profit accounting Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls Experience with nonprofit operations, including accounts payable and reconciliation High integrity, trustworthiness, and a strong work ethic Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Commitment to diversity in hiring, managing, and developing a team Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management and boards Proactive, detail-oriented manager with strategic focus Customer service mentality, responsive, courteous, and thorough Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Office suite Energetic with a good sense of humor Familiarity with grantmaking, charitable funds, or fiscal sponsorship is preferred
