Overview
Our financial services client is seeking an experienced
Bankruptcy Officer
to support their Special Assets and Loan Workout functions. This individual will oversee the full lifecycle of bankruptcy cases—primarily
Chapter 7
and
Chapter 13 —and serve as the primary point of contact for trustees, attorneys, and internal credit teams. This role requires a high degree of independence, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex reconciliations and filings. The ideal candidate has extensive experience navigating the
Pacer
court system and a strong understanding of bankruptcy court procedures.
Base pay range : $60,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Location & Schedule : Hybrid within 40 miles of a regional hub (within commuting distance)
Duration : Direct Hire
Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and file
Proofs of Claim
and related bankruptcy documentation.
Reconcile and post
monthly Trustee checks , ensuring accuracy across accounts and systems.
Analyze and balance complex
bankruptcy spreadsheets
for case management and financial tracking.
Maintain consistent communication with
Trustee Offices ,
Credit Rights firms , and internal stakeholders.
Research bankruptcy cases through
Pacer
(federal online court system) to verify filings and case status.
Monitor, track, and document progress on all open bankruptcy cases.
Ensure compliance with all applicable bankruptcy laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Support Special Assets and Credit Administration teams with reporting and recovery tracking.
Identify discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and maintain documentation for audit readiness.
Qualifications
Minimum
5+ years
of direct experience with bankruptcy court systems or legal financial operations.
Strong understanding of
Chapter 7
and
Chapter 13
filings.
Proficient with
Pacer
and related bankruptcy software tools.
Exceptional
attention to detail , organization, and analytical capabilities.
Proven ability to work independently (a “lone ranger” role) while managing a high-volume caseload.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for trustee and attorney correspondence.
Preferred : Paralegal background or prior experience working in a
Trustee Office
or law firm.
