U.S. grasslands are on the verge of a unified, large-scale conservation movement. This initiative, funded by the National Park Service (NPS), launches a major effort to advance grassland conservation across the Great Plains. Spanning 10 states and multiple National Parks, the project integrates science, planning, and on-the-ground implementation. It connects a diverse network of collaborators—including federal and state agencies, NGOs, private landowners, and academic institutions—to improve the visibility of grasslands, scale collaborative management across public-private boundaries, and communicate the value of grassland ecosystems to society.
