Our client is seeking a Domain Owner – Epic Hospital Billing for a 12-month remote contract. This strategic role is responsible for the oversight, optimization, and operational alignment of Epic’s Hospital Billing (HB) module across the healthcare enterprise. As the primary subject matter expert and operational liaison for all Epic HB-related initiatives, you will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant billing processes for inpatient and outpatient hospital services. You will collaborate closely with Revenue Integrity, IT, Health Information Management (HIM), Finance, and Compliance teams to support system build decisions, manage domain governance, and drive revenue performance improvements through Epic technology. The Domain Owner will also play a key role in supporting provider and end-user training, facilitating communication between technical and operational teams, and leading revenue cycle transformation initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, IT, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred) Epic Resolute Hospital Billing certification (or willingness to certify) 5+ years of experience in hospital billing, revenue cycle, or Epic build/support Knowledge of payer contracts, revenue cycle KPIs, and cost containment strategies Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders Experience managing system configuration, testing, and deployment within Epic Hospital Billing module Ability to analyze and improve billing performance metrics such as DNFB, charge lag, denial rates, clean claim rates, and A/R performance RESPONSIBILITIES
Own and manage the domain roadmap for Epic Hospital Billing, aligning with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and strategic priorities Oversee and support configuration and optimization of Epic HB components, including Charge Router, Charge Review, Claims, Remittance Posting, and Workqueue rules Partner with IT analysts and Epic builders to test, validate, and deploy system changes, upgrades, and enhancements Lead design decisions for Epic HB upgrades, enhancements, and optimization initiatives, ensuring operational alignment and compliance Collaborate with revenue cycle, operational, and cross-functional leaders (Revenue Integrity, HIM, Finance, Compliance) to identify pain points and translate them into system or workflow solutions Manage governance processes to prioritize requests, escalate issues, and align project timelines across departments Monitor and drive improvement of key revenue cycle metrics such as DNFB, charge lag, denial rates, clean claim rates, and A/R performance Serve as the escalation point for Epic HB system issues impacting billing performance and resolution Contribute to the development of HB training content and system documentation for operational end users and super users Partner with training and operational teams to implement enhancements, updates, and workflow changes Facilitate effective communication between technical teams and hospital departments to ensure clarity, understanding, and adoption of system functionality
