Pay Rates: Now – Entry $15.75 | Intermediate $16.75 | Experienced $19.06

Starting June 17, 2025 – Entry $16.00 | Intermediate $17.00 | Experienced $19.32

Job Summary

The Bus Monitor assists students with special needs during transport to and from school and/or activities. This role ensures the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles and supports the overall safety of students during loading, transit, and unloading.

Key Responsibilities

Student Assistance: Assist students with special needs and other passengers, ensuring safe loading and unloading during both routine and emergency situations. Behavioral Management: Instruct students to enforce rules and regulations, maintaining their safety and well-being. Monitoring: Supervise students' needs until they are released to a teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc., ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers. Incident Reporting: Prepare reports (e.g., incident reports, passenger misconduct) to document activities and comply with established guidelines. Emergency Preparedness: Secure students and their equipment (e.g., restraints, wheelchair tie-downs, seat belts) to ensure their safety. Training and Development: Attend unit meetings, in-service training, and workshops to gather necessary information for job performance. Other Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Job-related experience is desired.

Skills

Preparing and maintaining accurate records. Operating equipment used in transporting students with special needs. Adherence to safety practices.

Knowledge

Basic math. Understanding written procedures. Safety practices and procedures.

Abilities

Schedule activities, meetings, and events. Work with a wide diversity of individuals. Solve practical problems with data and equipment. Maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team.
