Job Description The UOES division hires on-call/temporary positions in Campus Dining Halls. The Dining Service Associate (DSA) is a front-of-house role responsible for welcoming diners and assisting with food preparation, service, and clean-up. The Culinary Service Associate (CSA) is a back-of-house role focused on kitchen cleanliness and food production. The Monitor role verifies meal plan eligibility, monitors dining hall activity, and maintains cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

Dining Service Associate (DSA)

Provide friendly and efficient customer service to students, faculty, staff, and guests in a high-volume dining hall environment.

Efficiently serve food items to patrons, ensuring appropriate portion sizes and appealing presentation.

Assist with food service by setting up serving lines, restocking food items, and ensuring all stations are clean and well-presented.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in dining areas.

Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.

Help with inventory management by receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, and organizing storage areas.

Culinary Service Associate (CSA)

Maintain the cleanliness and visual appeal of serving lines, food displays, and condiment stations.

Assist with basic food preparation tasks.

Monitor and replenish food items on serving lines.

Operate and maintain basic kitchen equipment safely.

Clean and sanitize workstations, serving utensils, and equipment.

Assist with dishwashing duties.

Support inventory management.

Monitor

Greet and welcome students, faculty, staff, and guests upon entry to the dining hall.

Verify meal plans, student IDs, or other authorized access for all individuals entering the dining hall.

Monitor dining room activity to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.

Circulate throughout the dining area.

Ensure compliance with dining hall policies.

Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of dining tables and chairs.

Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or significant incidents to dining hall management immediately.

Support the overall dining experience by maintaining a visible and helpful presence.

Qualifications

Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication and listening skills.

Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours).

Ability to move, lift, and handle equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.

Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products.

Pay Rate $17.50/hr
