The Senior Technical Claims Specialist determines coverage, investigates complex commercial casualty claims, sets reserves, negotiates settlements, and authorizes claims. The role handles bodily injury and property damage claims within the Construction Vertical and does not cover Construction Defect losses. Preferred candidate lives within a 50‑mile radius of one of the listed hub offices (Boston, MA; Westborough, MA; Plano, TX; Suwanee, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Hoffman Estates, IL; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Chandler, AZ; Weatogue, CT). Remote is considered if outside 50‑mile range. Responsibilities
Owner of claims: determine coverage, investigate, set and adjust reserves, evaluate, negotiate settlements, authorize and pay; may deny claims. Review lawsuit documentation, supporting documents, claims file, investigation, etc.; establish actions to resolve lawsuit. Determine loss coverage, amounts owed, discovery plans, set reserves and negotiate. Establish appropriate working team (Home Office Legal, Defense Counsel, Home Office Claims) based on allegations in suit. Manage practices and billing activities of outside counsel. Accountable for security of financial processing of claims and claim file information. Train and mentor staff as appropriate; manage relationships and act as liaison with business partners (Underwriting, Reinsurance, etc.). Keep abreast of existing and proposed legislation, court decisions, trends and experience related to specialty coverage issues. Analyze impact on claims policies and procedures and advise Claims. Manage appropriate action when required. Participate in special projects. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years claims adjusting experience. Advanced knowledge of Commercial Casualty claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving & expense management, resolution strategy, negotiation, litigation management, claims evaluation, and the insurance legal and regulatory environment. Intermediate to advanced skill in customer focus, problem solving, communications, teamwork, adaptability and demonstrated ability to work independently, achieve results and execute thoroughly. Construction Liability or Commercial General Liability claims experience preferred. Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is $82,000 – $157,000 per year and may include commission or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan. About Us
