Tax – Business Tax Services – Private Tax HNWI - Manager The opportunity EY Private Tax is a growing practice within EY, with a focus on serving privately held companies and their owners and families. Clients range from family-owned businesses to private equity owned companies, spanning start-ups to multi-billion-dollar global private enterprises. You will work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects, acting as a key point of contact for a wide range of clients and colleagues, with opportunities for cross-border and cross-functional teaming. EY supports your development of technical tax knowledge, leadership, and business acumen. Your Key Responsibilities Depending on your unique skills and ambitions, you could be managing various responsibilities, from technical planning and advising clients that include high-profile individuals and their families. You will act as a trusted advisor and role model across multiple teams, building a diverse network of colleagues. You will coach and develop a highly trained team while focusing on quality and commercial value.
Researching tax issues to develop effective tax planning strategies
Translating complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables
Building effective long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide a tailored service
Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients
Maintaining your reputation by updating and sharing technical knowledge and best practices
Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals, reviewing work and ensuring the team has the tools to excel
Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes
Skills And Attributes For Success To qualify for the role, you must have:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with significant tax, business or financial planning experience
A CPA certification or membership in The Bar
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
Experience with federal and state personal and trust taxation
Experience with flow-through entities (S-Corps, Partnerships, LLCs)
Understanding of automated tax processing systems
Experience with Gift, Estate and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus
Commitment to continuing learning
Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues
Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment
Ideally, you’ll also have
Proven experience in a professional services environment
Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to adapt work style to collaborate with internal and client teams
