Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to join the Business and Intellectual Property teams in the Minneapolis office. Legal Assistants provide administrative support to attorneys and serve clients under a
Client First philosophy to deliver exceptional service. Essential Duties
Provides skilled, proactive administrative support to assigned attorneys and other team members in the Business and Intellectual Property Practice Groups in the Minneapolis office. Edits and proofreads complex documents, including proactive review for discrepancies/inconsistencies and clear communication of issues to attorneys. Communicates professionally with attorneys and other members of the legal team on projects, needs, and transaction status. Collaborates with legal team and accounting to gather costs and time in preparation for closing. Supports the billing process, including initial review and comment on BIMs, editing BIMs, preparing and updating reports, and following up on client and attorney inquiries. Performs administrative duties such as proofreading, editing and releasing attorney time entries; registering, calendaring and reporting Continuing Legal Education credits; handling reimbursements and related tasks. Prepares and reviews letters and memoranda according to Firm standards. Exhibits strong client service orientation in all verbal and written communication. Maintains attention to detail and numerical aptitude; anticipates tasks and proactively performs them. Responds to requests with urgency and prioritizes work effectively. Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Monitors and communicates deadlines to the legal team as appropriate. Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with Taft
Information Governance Policy. Assists in managing client contacts, emails, print documents, and incoming/outgoing mail. May enter time into billing management software. Requirements
2+ years of Legal Assistant experience strongly preferred. Proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; willingness to maintain excellent technical skills and learn new software through internal training programs. Employment Details
