GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION**Position Name: Accessibility Coordinator and Student Success AdvisorClassification: ExemptFTE: 1.0; Full timeWork Hours: 37.5 hour work week. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. POSITION SUMMARY**The Student Success Advisor supports the UWS mission by enhancing the overall student experience through the programs and activities that promote academic success. Under the direction of the Director of Student Success and in coordination with other university personnel, the Student Success Advisor provides academic support services such as student advising, academic coaching, tutoring, and accessibility services. With a focus on on-campus students, the Student Success Advisor explains university policies and procedures, connects students with resources, and facilitates a welcoming and inclusive environment to support student success. The successful candidate will apply detailed knowledge of university academic programs, policies and procedures, independent judgement and problem-solving skills, and strong communication, technical and organizational skills.**3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES****Student Success Advising (20%)*** New Student Advising: Assist with onboarding and orientation for new students, including account access, IT requests, university policies and requirements, student life, etc.* Academic Advising: Assist students with completing required tasks associated with ongoing enrollment. Refer students to academic leadership or faculty advisors for specific career and program planning.* Success Coaching: Support students with academic and personal skills, including time-management, test-taking, studying, and connect students with available resources.* Academic Standing Advising: Provide advising for students who are not meeting SAP requirements, including connecting students to applicable resources.* Leave Advising: Manage leave inquiries, track students on leave, and support students returning from leave.**Accessibility Services (50%)*** Facilitate programs for students with disabilities to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.* Facilitate comprehensive support services for students with qualifying disabilities.* Provide direct support and advising to students with temporary and permanent disabilities.**Tutoring Program (10%)*** Supervise and create schedules for student employees and tutors.* Review and approve tutor and student worker schedules and timesheets.**Student Inquiries and Support (20%)*** Answer questions about services and support available to students.* Provide direct assistance to students to access available services, navigate UWS policies and procedures, and find answers to questions.* Lead efforts to promote and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment.* Answer questions about services and support available to students.* Provide direct assistance to students to access available services, navigate UWS policies and procedures, and find answers to questions.* Lead efforts to promote and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment.* Promote and demonstrate a commitment to a culture of continuous improvement.* Stay current on national trends and best practices in student services and student advising.* Attend training, meetings and conferences as directed.* Serve on campus committees as assigned.* Other duties as assigned.**4. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS***Required*Education & Training: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceExperience: Two years of experience in an advising or student support role in a higher education setting; Experience providing direct support to students with disabilitiesRelated Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficiency in MS Office; Intermediate skill level with database management and report preparation and analysis; Exemplary written and oral communication skillsOther Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to build strong student relationships with a diverse student population; Demonstrated high level discretion and sound judgement with confidential information; Demonstrated understanding of the role of student support and how it impacts retention and student success; Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to new conditions and assignments; Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands, set priorities and provide timely responses to urgent issues; Demonstrated ability to contribute to a high-performing team and exercise a high degree of professionalism*Preferred*Experience: Three or more years of experience in an advising or student support role in a higher education settingRelated Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Experience with student information systems or other enterprise systems**6.
