Under the general direction of a dean, provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds in the discipline of Ecology with an initial focus in landscape management. Teach in appropriate modalities (lecture, lab, or performance courses) to facilitate students’ attainment of academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5, Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment. Who we are

Representative Duties
Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking through assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance instructional settings. Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, transfer options, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services and professionals as appropriate. Observe and evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, and address student inquiries in class, online, or during office hours. Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes to maximize learning; implement the student performance objectives listed in the official course outline of record. Maintain current records of enrollment, attendance, progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports in a timely manner. Evaluate and select instructional materials and order textbooks or tools to ensure timely delivery. Update course content and materials in line with new theory, application, and industry developments; update syllabi and collaborate on measurable student performance indicators. May participate in curriculum and program development and attend committee and department meetings. May participate in articulation and matriculation activities; may provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned. Note:
E = Essential Duties. Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Master’s in ecology or environmental studies OR the equivalent OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university. If education is from outside the United States, foreign transcripts require evaluation as detailed by district policy. Equivalency: The district recognizes that candidates may qualify through alternatives to the stated minimum qualifications. Completed Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency may be required for review. Supplemental Information
Selection Process: Applications in this pool will be reviewed when a vacancy arises; complete packets with minimum qualifications will be considered for interviews. Application Procedure: Submit required documents via the online system. Required attachments include: Employment application, Cover Letter addressing diversity and contribution to the community, Resume, Letters of recommendation (optional), Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency (if applicable), and official transcripts. Transcripts must show degree title and conferral date; foreign transcripts require evaluation if applicable. Starting Salary: Part-time faculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,408 and $3,108 per semester for a 10% load; salaries governed by the AFT contract.
