WHAT YOU'LL DO Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contract/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5, Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment. The initial focus of this teaching assignment will be a class working with the Spirit Team (cheering and stunting) which falls under the instructional discipline of Folk Dance.

We are accepting applications on an on-going basis for future consideration for part-time instructors in this discipline at Moorpark College. Applications submitted to this pool will be kept on file for the Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 semesters and may be considered if a vacancy becomes available within the academic year. If you have applied to previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.

WHERE YOU'LL WORK Moorpark College is one of three colleges in the Ventura County Community College District. It serves approximately 15,000 students and emphasizes a "students first" philosophy. The campus is located on 150 acres in the foothills of Ventura County, roughly 40 miles from UCLA and 75 miles from UC Santa Barbara. Moorpark College has been recognized for transfer excellence and various achievements, including multiple grants and programs in career/technical fields and the visual and performing arts.

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking through assignments and activities in multiple instructional settings.

Advise and instruct students on programs of study, resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.

Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on inquiries in class, online, or during office hours.

Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; align with department, college, and district goals.

Maintain accurate records of enrollment, progress, and outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports timely.

Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials to ensure timely delivery.

Revise and update course content in response to new developments; update syllabi and assess measurable outcomes.

May participate in curriculum development, committees, articulation, and matriculation activities; may provide work direction to others.

Perform related duties as assigned. Essential duties are indicated where applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Options include:

Any Bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience; OR

Any Associate's degree and six years of professional experience; OR

Possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.

Professional experience is required if a master's degree is possessed. All coursework must be from a recognized, accredited college or university. If education is from outside the United States, read the Foreign Transcripts information below.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Equivalency: The district recognizes that candidates may qualify through various means and may submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency if needed.

Selection Process: Complete applications will be reviewed; most-qualified candidates will be interviewed. Include detailed education and experience information in the application.
