Position Summary
The Department of English Language and Literature at Central Michigan University seeks a full‑time, benefit‑eligible, fixed‑term non‑tenure‑track faculty member for the Spring 2026 semester. This position begins on January 8, 2026, and ends on May 13, 2026, with the possibility of renewal for the 2026–27 academic year pending performance and department need. Duties
Teach four sections per semester of introductory, first‑year, and intermediate composition courses (ENG 101, ENG 103, ENG 201). Modalities may include face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online asynchronous delivery. If reappointed for the 2026‑27 academic year, expand teaching duties to include two new composition courses: ENG 202 (Narrative Nonfiction Writing) and ENG 203 (Technical Writing). Engage in professional development activities within the department (as needed). Invite, but not required, to join department committees and working groups at the college and university level. Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Composition and Rhetoric, English Language and Literature, or a closely related field. Experience teaching college composition and developmental writing. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with students who struggle with writing, including those for whom English is a second language. Experience teaching online or in hybrid delivery formats. Experience as a Writing Center consultant. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. Application Process
