Position Summary
The Bar Manager plays a critical leadership role in both bar operations and nightly service. This position is
responsible for running an efficient and elevated bar program, developing and coaching the bar team, and
supporting service across the dining room. Working under the direction of the General Manager, the Bar
Manager will collaborate closely with all front-of-house managers to ensure the bar functions in harmony with
the overall success of the restaurant.
This is a hands-on leadership position with a focus on closing the restaurant each night and actively managing both bar and service staff on the floor.
Key Responsibilities Bar Leadership & Beverage Program Management - Own the execution, consistency, and profitability of the full bar program, in alignment with the restaurant's culinary vision. - Lead weekly bar-focused pre-shifts to introduce new products, educate on technique, and improve service confidence. - Coach and develop bartenders through regular feedback, training sessions, and performance check-ins. - Maintain detailed prep systems, inventory controls, and vendor relationships. - Monitor product mix and COGS monthly to ensure the bar remains profitable and intentional. - Continually push the bar program forward with new features, seasonal updates, and elevated guest experiences.
Service & Restaurant Support - Act as the closing manager five nights per week-ensuring all departments complete their duties, and the restaurant is set for success the following day. - Collaborate with the General Manager and FOH team to maintain seamless floor operations and a consistent service standard. - Support servers during service, answer guest questions, and be a visible leader throughout the restaurant. - Lead or support nightly pre-shift meetings with a focus on beverage education, service flow, and team alignment. Team Development & Culture - Work closely with the GM to recruit, hire, and retain strong bar talent. - Set clear goals to grow the bar team's skills, product knowledge, and hospitality standards. - Promote a positive, accountable, and collaborative environment between the bar and service teams. - Encourage upselling and support the team in learning how to guide guests through the beverage experience. Administrative & Operational Excellence - Create and manage bar schedules with labor and sales targets in mind. - Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards. - Oversee daily bar prep, cleaning, and closeout checklists. - Report weekly bar sales performance and proactively suggest improvements.
Qualifications - Minimum 3 years bartending experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role at a fine dining or upscale restaurant. - Strong communication and leadership skills with a hospitality-first mindset. - Proven track record of managing COGS, inventory, and team performance. - Must thrive in a high-paced environment and be comfortable managing both behind the bar and on the restaurant floor. - Must be available to close 5 nights per week, including weekends and holidays.
