Please Note:
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools continuously. Qualified applicants will be contacted as needed, with applications remaining active for up to two years. The district is seeking part-time adjunct instructors for Political Science courses. The starting salary is $60.00/hour, with variations based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For details, consult the CCA collective bargaining agreement or college HR. Representative Duties
The successful applicant will: Provide instruction across a range of Political Science courses. Teach at various campus sites, including day, evening, weekend, large classes, and distance learning using multiple methodologies. Participate in student recruitment and transfer program articulation. Maintain current subject matter knowledge, develop and revise curriculum, and utilize multimedia technology. Engage in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities. Minimum Qualifications
Master's in Political Science, Government, or International Relations; OR Bachelor's in one of these fields and a Master's in Economics, History, Public Administration, Social Science, Sociology, Ethnic Studies, JD, or LL.B.; OR valid credential authorizing full-time Political Science teaching at California Community Colleges; OR equivalent qualifications (applicants must submit an
Application for Equivalence
form with supporting documents). Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds. Degrees must be from accredited institutions; foreign degrees require evaluation by a recognized agency. Knowledge & Abilities
The applicant should demonstrate broad knowledge in the discipline and: Work effectively with colleagues and diverse students. Develop curricula for various modalities. Participate in recruitment and articulation activities. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Maintain subject matter currency and assess student outcomes. Use computers and explore new technologies. Support the California community college mission. Special Instructions
