Political Science Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool - East Kern, Tehachapi. This posting is for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors within Kern Community College District. The starting salary range is $67.00/hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Responsibilities
Provide instruction in a full range of Political Science courses. Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and using multiple teaching methodologies. Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Social Science department. Maintain subject matter currency, develop and revise curriculum, use computer and multimedia technology. Engage in collegial activities within departmental, college and discipline-specific contexts. Minimum Qualifications
Master's in Political Science, Government, or International Relations; OR Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in Economics, History, Public Administration, Social Science, Sociology, any ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B.; OR Possession of a valid credential which authorizes full-time teaching of Political Science at the California Community College level; OR Equivalent qualifications as determined with an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE and supporting documents. AND
a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students. Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a recognized credential evaluation service. Meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. Knowledge & Abilities
Broad knowledge of the discipline with the ability to demonstrate depth in the subject area. Ability to work effectively with colleagues to promote innovation, teaching, and service to a diverse student population. Ability to work with students with a wide range of skills, goals, and motivations. Ability to develop curricula delivered via different modalities; ability to assess student learning outcomes. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; willingness to use new technologies. Knowledge of the California community college mission. Special Instructions
