New York University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in ecological and evolutionary genetics and genomics, working at the interface of ecological and evolutionary dynamics of infectious disease, from the perspective of the pathogen and/or host, across microbes, animals, or plants. The successful applicant will be appointed at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Biology, and will be part of a broader life sciences and engineering initiative that brings together researchers at the interface of biology, data science and AI through joint appointments with Engineering Health. The Department of Biology offers a collaborative, interdisciplinary and innovative research environment that supports ambitious research projects across the range of biology. Our core facility provides excellent and subsidized access to microscopy, high-throughput robotics, sequencing and high-performance computing. The Department has an active mentoring program for junior faculty, and is committed to the success of all faculty. Responsibilities

Develop an externally funded research program and participate in the teaching mission of the Department. Supervise scholarly activities of undergraduate and graduate students and participate in administrative activities in the Department of Biology. Environment

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $89,000 to $129,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Appointment and Qualifications

This search is for an Assistant Professor, ideally beginning on Sept 1, 2026, pending administrative and budgetary approval. Candidates should possess a PhD, have developed a research program that indicates the potential to be a leader in the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of infectious disease, show promise in adopting an interdisciplinary approach, and have demonstrated excellence in teaching.
