The Mental Health & Behavioral Science Service Line at the Salisbury VA Health Care System is seeking seasoned Psychiatrists to provide care to a diverse veteran population, addressing issues such as Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Severe Mental Illness, Substance Use Disorders, and medical co-morbidities. Position Highlights: Work-life balance Manageable workload Opportunities to contribute to and grow the department in your field of expertise High service demand due to a growing veteran population Wake Forest University academia opportunities 8-4:30 M-F, 2 days a week of telework Call Coverage: At home, phone call 10-12 days per year Must have 2+ years of leadership and supervisory experience Optional weekend inpatient coverage for additional pay Position Requirements: Board Certified/Eligible Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in medicine/osteopathic medicine Provide psychiatric care in inpatient units, ambulatory programs, residential programs for substance abuse and PTSD, emergency department, medical-surgical ward, geriatrics, and extended programs as required Experience working with interdisciplinary teams including Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and other mental health professionals Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members Understanding of healthcare systems and ability to apply this knowledge to improve health outcomes Compensation and Benefits: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases 50–55 days paid time off per year (including leave, sick days, holidays, and CME leave) Federal pension (5 years vesting) and 401K with up to 5% VA contributions Federal health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care insurance Full/unrestricted license from any US State or territory Possible CME reimbursement up to $1,000/year (full-time, board certified) Malpractice insurance with tail coverage No physician employment contract or restrictions on moonlighting Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment) available Interested candidates should email their current CV to Annie Luckey, VA Physician Provider Recruiter.
