We invite dedicated candidates to join the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) team. DPSCS is one of Maryland’s largest departments, employing nearly 12,000 staff and operating with a budget exceeding $1 billion. We are committed to safety, security, and innovative restorative justice projects that help offenders reintegrate into society upon release.
Responsibilities
Curriculum delivery: Daily instruction of CELTP curriculum and practical training as well as coaching and mentoring assigned students and instructors.
Operational compliance: Ensure the curriculum and practical training remain fully compliant with standards established by the Professional Development and Training Division, Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) or other regulatory agencies.
Logistical support: Recommend equipment and materials needed for safe and effective delivery of correctional academy training, and assist academy students to resolve logistical or programmatic issues as they arise.
Post‑academy responsibility: Confirm all pertinent post‑academy information is complete and accurate.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.
Experience: Three years of experience as a Correctional Officer involving the custody and security of adult inmates.

Holidays – state employees celebrate twelve (12) holidays per year.
Pension – state employees earn credit toward a retirement pension.
