AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese, and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter, and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail, and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and the Co-op Crafted promise, emphasizing over 50 years of partnership with dairy farm families and skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

This internship offers a learning program designed to train candidates for potential full-time roles similar to the one described below. DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from AMPI, as they continue to receive military pay and benefits.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list is not exhaustive and may expand as needed:

Report employee safety, food safety, and food quality issues to management.

Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives at the facility by training and enforcing safety programs and policies.

Administer training programs compliant with OSHA regulations to promote safe work behaviors.

Manage industrial hygiene programs, including medical testing, respiratory testing, and contaminant monitoring.

Oversee waste inspections, containerization, labeling, and disposal records.

Record site EHS monitoring data such as noise levels, carbon monoxide, heat exposure, and stormwater samples.

Implement the company’s drug and alcohol testing policies in accordance with laws.

Conduct safety compliance inspections, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.

Manage safety programs covering Life Safety Code, forklift and crane operations, PPE, hazard communication, and more.

Promote safety awareness through communications, safety talks, and training.

Support maintenance and quality assurance efforts to ensure safety and food safety standards.

Identify hazards and develop corrective actions through facility and equipment audits.

Manage DOT driver files, drug screenings, and documentation.

Analyze safety and health data to identify trends and improve safety programs.

Monitor workers’ compensation claims, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions.

Ensure OSHA and environmental reporting is completed accurately and timely.

Maintain training records related to occupational health, safety, environmental, and DOT topics.

Facilitate effective communication on safety matters among employees.
