Multi-Market Meteorologist

Role Summary This full‑time meteorologist will forecast and present weather to viewers across multiple TEGNA stations, primarily serving Texas and Mid‑South markets. The role requires expertise in severe weather forecasting, collaboration with digital and streaming platforms, and flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
Deliver accurate weather forecasts across broadcast, digital, and streaming services.
Partner with TEGNA stations to present weather and create content that expands audience reach.
Cover morning, evening, and weekend shifts to support staffing needs nationwide.
Learn geography and unique weather patterns in selected TEGNA markets.
Create engaging weather explainers and stories to educate audience.
Contribute to growth of digital and streaming platforms with innovative content.
Collaborate with a team of passionate weather professionals to push boundaries of storytelling.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.
4+ years of on‑air experience as a Broadcast Meteorologist.
Coverage expertise in tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, snow/blizzard, freeze, etc.
AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal (plus).
Mastery of weather graphics systems (The Weather Company/WSI) and digital media platforms.
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to travel to cover breaking weather events or contribute to other markets.
Ability to work independently and multitask confidently under tight deadlines.
Computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems.
Live field anchoring and reporting skills will set your application apart.
Pay Range $75,000—$100,000 USD
