We deliver secure, high-quality language solutions in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Sylheti Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Sylheti, an Eastern Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh and northeastern India, is often treated as a dialect of Bengali but is linguistically distinct. It is a rare but critical language often required for asylum and immigration proceedings. Responsibilities
Provide real-time Sylheti-English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings. Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration and asylum contexts. Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards. Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews. Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Sylheti and English (knowledge of Bengali is a plus). 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, asylum, or government preferred). Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. Excellent communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance. Compensation & Benefits
