Senior Carrier Sales Representative R+L Global Logistics

Overview He is an experienced logistics professional responsible for sourcing and developing partner carrier relationships. This includes managing both existing and future customer loads—pickup, transit, and on‑time delivery—while maximizing margins and providing exceptional service.

Responsibilities

Manage and continually develop business relationships with customers and carriers.

Ensure that customer freight is covered by managing the pickup, transit and on‑time delivery.

Recruit and source contract carriers and validate contract eligibility.

Present multiple modes of transportation options to your customer base.

Negotiate rates with partner carriers to maintain competitive pricing.

Dispatch carriers and properly update loads within the transportation management system.

Maintain contact with carriers and internal business partners to address challenges and issues.

Track and trace freight movements from origination to destination, resolving occurrences constructively and efficiently.

Continuously develop the carrier base by building new relationships and expanding coverage solutions.

Communicate daily with partner carriers to understand equipment location and haul needs.

Utilize partner carrier truck lists and external load boards to match customer needs with carrier abilities.

Ensure timely and accurate information input into the transportation management system.

Provide unmatched customer service through daily conversations, actively listening to customers to identify needs, provide solutions, educate and build relationships.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High school Diploma or GED.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred (Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, or International Business).

5+ years of experience in a full truckload environment.

Drive, assertiveness, passion, and dedication to succeed in logistics.

Thrives in a fast‑paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Handles high call volumes and customer inquiries while exuding high customer service level.

Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.

Works flexible schedule.

Willingness to relocate for job advancement a plus.

Previous experience with transportation management systems and load boards; McLeod preferred.

Experience in air, refrigerated, intermodal or specialized modes a plus.

Knowledge and understanding of transportation guidelines and regulations.

Knowledge of FMCSR and local market geography, transportation arteries, and traffic patterns a plus.

Strong written and oral communication skills and inter‑personal skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Fluent English; bilingual Spanish or Eastern European languages a plus.
