Required Qualifications Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD Fire Protection Engineering License by examination issued by any state in the United States Experience with Fire Protection detailed design. Experience in interpreting client request and apply design standards to work product Experienced in Plan Reviews Experience in using AutoCAD, and a fire sprinkler program to design fire alarm, fire suppression, and life safety systems in AutoCAD Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety, Building Codes, and NFPA Standards Possess certifications, training, and working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards including NFPA13, 2001, 70, and 72. Ability to travel to multiple DSN locations including international sites as needed Desired Qualifications Certified Fire Protection Specialist, preferred Have a demonstrated track record of successful project management Strong Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work on a high functioning team Flexible and able to think quickly working to resolve design issues and makes decisions. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines and budgets Working competency with MS Office Suite & MS Project software Peraton is seeking a Fire Protection Design Engineer to join our team in Monrovia, California to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) program with JPL and NASA. The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it. As a licensed Fire Protection Engineer, you will be the primary contact for customer facing project work. This key position works closely with AHJ’S and clients to ensure projects are compliant and being completed as assigned. The Fire Protection Design Engineer is fully responsible and accountable for the final design content and document generation to support the Fire Protection system. Responsibilities Plan, manage, and oversee fire protection engineering efforts across multiple sites—domestic and international

Design and analyze fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, gas-based extinguishing systems, and fire water distribution networks

Conduct site surveys, risk assessments, and code compliance evaluations; propose innovative and cost-effective solutions

Prepare and review technical documentation, including engineering calculations, construction drawings, specifications, and commissioning plans

Participate in and lead project kickoff meetings, design reviews, construction inspections, and final system testing and commissioning

Act as a subject matter expert when engaging with AHJs, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams to resolve design or compliance issues

Maintain awareness of changes in NFPA, OSHA, NASA-specific standards, NEC, and other applicable codes and ensure project alignment

Support procurement activities by creating technical requisitions and reviewing vendor submittals

Provide remote and on-site technical support during installation and system troubleshooting

Develop reports and recommendations to support system upgrades, modifications, and future-proofing of life safety systems

Participate in industry forums such as NFPA and SFPE; stay informed on the latest in fire protection technologies and practices

Provide peer review and mentorship to other engineers on fire protection principles and best practices
