Hands On Portland
Sort with Portland Food Project (age 16+) Referral
Hands On Portland, Portland, Oregon, United States, 97204
Overview
Since the Portland Food Project began in 2012, we have grown from a group of 55 food donors, providing food to 5 pantries, to a network of over 1,500 donors who have contributed 870,000 pounds of food to 19 local food pantries. This provides the food pantries with a steady supply of food that people with food insecurity can count on. On Pickup Day, dozens of volunteers pitch in at the drop-off location, receiving, weighing, and distributing the food delivered by our Neighborhood Coordinators. It’s a fun, celebratory atmosphere. Volunteers generally work in 2 or 3-hour shifts, and can come for part or all of the time. Pickup Day is the second Saturday of every even month. There will be some lifting involved (up to 20 pounds), and some exposure to the elements. Please dress accordingly. Hands On appreciates your interest in volunteering to help our community in this time of extraordinary need. Opportunity Requirements
