Job Description:
Budget Title: Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000
The Electrical Engineer / Designer position is a salaried, professional position that works with architects, engineers, designers, project coordinators and campus customers, on the design and construction of campus projects. This position focuses on the campus impacts, needs, project budgets and schedules. This successful candidate works closely with other design professionals to provide the best possible design, within budget, while anticipating potential problems, minimizing the negative impacts of construction on campus operation.
This Engineer / Designer would be expected to:
Work with licensed design professionals in a team environment to identify a scope of work, prepare design concepts with construction cost estimates and complete the design with final construction documents (i.e. drawings and specifications)
Review projects with a licensed professional for compliance with NYS Building Codes
Represent Facilities Management when meeting with clients / customers and other members of the design team to identify a scope of work
Manage projects throughout design and construction
Periodically review construction progress.
Answer requests for information from the contractors during construction
Attend job meetings; review and produce design documents and written specifications; produce and confirm accuracy of minutes for project meetings
Design experience shall include Electrical Systems (i.e. Power, Lighting, and Special Systems).
Some examples of current and recent projects completed by our Facilities Management Electrical Design Team include $90 million renovation of Science 3, new 30 million BTU heating plant, Office suite renovations, Lab / classroom renovations, Building additions, $12 million dormitory renovations, Recreation field lighting, etc.
Requirements:
Current licensure as a Professional Engineer in New York State OR Bachelor's degree and eligibility for taking the Fundamentals (FE) Examination & Principles & Practice (PE) Examination
One example - ABET Accredited Bachelor's degree in in Engineering, with 4 years of design experience under a licensed professional

Revit software proficiency in your discipline
Building renovation / construction design and specification writing experience
Preferred:
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Experience with construction project management, construction cost estimating, and scheduling software
Working knowledge of New York State Building Codes, and design standards (i.e. National Electrical Code, NFPA, ASHRAE standards)
Passed the Fundamentals (FE) Examination
Passed the Principles & Practice (PE) Examination
NYS Professional Engineering license
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
