Young Life shall only employ individuals or enlist volunteer leaders who: (a) profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord; and (b) subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith. Therefore, employees and volunteers of Young Life, during working and nonworking hours, shall: (i) be ready, willing and able to fulfill such ministry functions as may be required by the organization; (ii) refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life, and (iii) abide by all policies and practices of Young Life including, without limitation, those related to religious belief or ministry activities.**Job Specific Working Conditions:**Specific Working Conditions* Remote within the Chicagoland Young Life Region.* This part-time position is expected to work 10 hours a week.*Note: Based on full-time employment, the anticipated salary for this position can range from $57,510-$71,970 depending on relevant education, experience, and location.*## **Essential Duties:**## To Pursue Personal Spiritual Development* Pursue a growing relationship to God in Jesus Christ* Participate actively in a local Catholic parish community* Participate actively in the spiritual life of our Young Life region## ## To Develop Local Young Life Leadership Gateways for Catholics and Build Support for Young Life within the Catholic Community* To assist regional and area staff to develop leadership gateways in our Young Life region to attract and engage Catholics in volunteering as leaders for existing WyldLife and Young Life clubs

+ Participate in young Catholic professionals groups to find missionary-minded Catholics who may not volunteer for a parish but would be attracted to serve in the Young Life ministry

+ Engage with any Newman Centers or other Catholic campus ministries at colleges and universities in the region to find missionary-minded Catholics who would be willing to serve with Young Life

+ Be willing to take groups of potential Catholic leaders to work week opportunities at camp so you can get to know them better and determine their level of interest and spiritual maturity* Encourage potential Catholic donors, volunteers and committee members to attend Young Life camp as adult guests* Build relationships with Catholic parish youth ministers in the region and encourage them to connect to a YL club, take their students to Young Life camp, and invite them to serve as volunteer leaders.## ## To Assist Field Staff in Developing Any YL Ministries at Catholic Parishes or Schools (these may include:)* Helping organize and launch a WyldLife club at a Catholic parish or school* Helping organize and launch a Young Life club at a Catholic high school* Helping organize and launch a parish-based Capernaum ministry* Helping introduce YoungLives to a parish or a pro-life Catholic organization that is interested in supplying volunteers for or funding of YoungLives.## ## To Assist in Implementing National Young Life Catholic Initiatives at the Local Level (these may include:)* Biennial Young Life Catholic Summit* National pipeline initiative* National training initiatives* Models for collaboration between Young Life ministries and Catholic parishes, schools, or universities## To Provide Catholic Relations Training and Introductions for Non-Catholic Young Life Staff* In one-on-one relationships, small discipleship groups, or large-group trainings, work to help Protestant Young Life staff learn how best to minister to students who identify as Catholic* Training on the importance of language - avoiding language that leads to confusion or division, understanding different expressions of the same common ground, articulating the Gospel in ways Catholics would understand. Translating Catholic and non-Catholic language as we apply it to an ecumenical Young Life ministry setting.* Facilitate relationships between Young Life staff and local youth ministers, both Catholic and non-Catholic. Nurture solid working relationships between them (for example, Protestant Young Life leaders and staff should be on a first-name basis with the local Catholic youth ministers so a disconnected Catholic student can be introduced to a local Catholic parish), and foster opportunities for missional collaboration to reach local kids.## To Provide Young Life Training for Catholic Parish/Catholic School Staff* Be available to provide trainings on relational ministry if asked to do so by the diocese or by a Catholic parish or Catholic school; many Catholic organizations that focus on youth are looking to Young Life as they learn how to do the ministry of accompaniment## Qualifications Required for the Job:* Three years of experience on Young Life staff* Thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith tradition and the call of the new evangelization as it pertains to Young Life’s ministry* Experience reaching out and building relationships with Catholic parishes, Catholic schools, and Catholic donors* Experience starting new Young Life ministries* Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, budgeting, event coordination, and volunteer recruitment and retention## ## Education:* Bachelor’s degree* Master’s degree/seminary degree is a plus## ## Working Conditions:* Occasional travel required* Occasional evening and weekend hours* Will include the extremes of Young Life camp, for example, heat/cold, dirt, hiking and more.
