Illinois American Water is seeking a full-time Sr. Operations Supervisor to join our team in Peoria, IL and help lead our distribution and field services work. This role provides oversight of critical operational work that directly impacts our customers and the communities we serve. As the Sr. Supervisor, you will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating work, leading service crews, and addressing emergent needs in the field. Our ideal candidate will be an effective leader, flexible, and a strong collaborator.
Posted Range: $68,640/annually - $114,660/annually. The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water, your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Primary Role
Supervises the day-to-day water operations in accordance with Company policies and procedures and all applicable government laws and regulations. Key Accountabilities
Supervise and coordinate regional construction, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations. Assures policies, procedures, programs, and performance are adhered to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability. Train and develop personnel in proper operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.) is maintained. Obtains all required permits, licenses, rights of way, etc. required for proper compliance. May be involved in customer service-related issues. Implement and foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within respective functional areas. Support the Business Development function in the operational analysis pricing and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities in both the regulated and non-regulated markets. Support manager to ensure effective people management policies and practices are developed and implemented (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management, etc.) and ensure resources are developed and deployed appropriately. Continue to reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce. Work collaboratively with other functional leads to mitigate business risks. Implement effective communications at all levels of our operations. Provide effective leadership that will enhance our abilities to be flexible to changing business environments. Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the business. Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of the regulated water business and the regulations impacting the business. Knowledge of process and operational areas. Strong construction background. Basic computer knowledge (Excel, Word, internal operational software). Mechanical/Maintenance background. Leadership, relationship building, teamwork, Labor Relations. Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline preferred but not required, or equivalent experience. Certifications/Licenses
Valid driver’s license. Work Schedule
Full-time Monday-Friday, daylight hours On-call responsibility 24/7 operations Travel Requirements
Local and occasional regional travel. Other Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time. Occasional hands-on work required.
