Overview

Walmart Marketplace is seeking a senior level project manager for its seller events, communication and marketing team. This role defines and maintains project management standards, implements best practices, and develops procedures to standardize project methodologies and achieve efficiencies, balancing the need for flexibility to support creative processes. It requires strong organizational, communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence skills to manage creative and internal partner teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality. It is a hybrid between traditional project management and creative operations, balancing day-to-day project execution with higher-level strategic process improvement. You’ll join a talented team of marketing, communication and event professionals who are passionate about helping sellers thrive and helping Walmart customers find more items to love.

What you’ll do

Establish Standards:

Define, implement, and maintain project management standards, methodologies, and best practices across the operations and project management teams.

Resource Management:

Oversee the allocation of creative resources to ensure optimal utilization and prevent overburdening the creative team.

Process Improvement and Planning:

Develop and apply project procedures, tools, and techniques to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.

Project Planning:

Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed timelines, milestones and deliverables for campaigns across channels (digital, print, video, social media, events).

Team Management:

Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction. Drive performance, mentoring of junior staff, and retention initiatives to maximize team effectiveness.

Stakeholder Alignment:

Act as a central point of contact for internal teams, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment on project goals.

Risk & Budget Management:

Monitor projects, identify risks early, and manage budgets to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Creative Process Support:

Foster an environment that supports creativity while ensuring deadlines and business objectives are met.

Essential Skills & Qualities

Organizational Skills:

Ability to manage multiple moving parts, timelines, budgets, and project scope.

Communication:

Clear, concise communication to facilitate collaboration and provide regular updates to internal teams.

Leadership & Decisiveness:

Ability to guide teams, solve problems, and decide quickly.

Flexibility & Adaptability:

Ability to pivot when plans change, common in creative projects.

Emotional Intelligence:

High EQ to manage stress, diffuse tension, and maintain morale within creative teams under tight deadlines.

Experience

Prefer at least six or more years of experience in creative project management and operations, ideally in a creative agency or fast-paced in-house creative team with complex project experience.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field, OR PMP certification OR equivalent experience.

Technical skills: Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Asana, Workfront, Jira, Smartsheet, Airtable) and knowledge of creative production workflows (digital, video, print).

Soft skills: Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Leadership abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage creative teams and stakeholders effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

Managing a budget, profit and loss, or related financial process; Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field; Project Management Certification.

Location and Compensation

San Bruno, California: The annual salary range for this position is $104,000.00 - $202,000.00.

Bentonville, Arkansas: The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00.

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Stock options may also be available for certain positions.
