Job Description
The Quality Engineer will lead quality management from product inception through production launch and throughout the production cycle, following ISO/TS 16949 quality standards. This role provides technical leadership, evaluates the performance of the quality management system, and identifies improvement areas within the Fabrication or Stamping departments. The ideal candidate is a committed professional with strong leadership, communication, and training skills, as well as deep expertise in metal stamping and fabrication. The Quality Engineer will also manage customer-related quality concerns and drive internal corrective actions accordingly. Key Responsibilities
Lead PPAPs, FAIs, Control Plans, Process Capability Studies, GR&R, and FMEAs within APQP and NPI processes Develop and implement inspection procedures and quality plans Serve as a primary liaison with customers on product quality issues Manage direct communications on quality concerns from various departments Assist Quality Managers in responding to customer complaints, QR’s, CAR’s, and 8D reports within required timelines Review and initiate RMAs, MRs, and Nonconformance Reports in UniPoint Ensure effective corrective actions and material dispositions Initiate and manage Material Review Board (MRB) actions when needed Coordinate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams as required Maintain oversight of incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality control Handle Non-Conformance Reports and related cost tracking via UniPoint Initiate Quality Alerts, Product Deviations, and Waivers; follow up for customer approval Schedule and oversee inspection activities and layout requirements Track historical issues and escalate critical problems to management Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues; work with the supply chain team as needed Initiate and track supplier CARs and 8Ds to completion Evaluate potential suppliers for quality capabilities Participate in customer and auditor visits Conduct internal audits in compliance with ISO/TS standards Required Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred) Hands-on experience in metal stamping and/or metal fabrication Proficiency in Quality Engineering tools such as SPC, DOE, CAPA, LEAN, 5S, and Six Sigma (6σ) Strong customer interface and communication skills Proven leadership in mentoring and managing quality engineering teams Track record of managing multiple engineering projects Additional Information
