Summary

As an R&D laboratory technician, you will be working collaboratively and independently with other technicians and engineers who are responsible for precision testing of HVAC equipment under development. You will set up for testing as well as operate and maintain conditions in our psychrometric chambers, swap components, troubleshoot UUT’s and testing equipment. Essential Functions

Execute setup and takedown for test units, pilots, sleds and component testing in our psychrometric chambers and test stands. Oversee, conduct, monitor and troubleshoot testing sequences. Conduct repairs, component swaps, and troubleshooting for the units under test Continuous improvement of engineering activities in providing timely, accurate, and responsive engineering support to internal and external customers. Provide recommendations to improve system operation, equipment reliability, maintenance methods, & energy efficiency. Interface with management, customer service, clients and other technicians to resolve technical problems. Maintain a working understanding of applicable industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI, ANSI, etc.). Maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow good engineering practices and develop practical solutions. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc. Qualifications/Skills

Require: Associate’s degree, equivalent vocational education or 3-5 years of related experience in the HVAC/R industry, Evac and Charging. Brazing and welding experience a plus. Full understanding of LabSys and RTS softwares required, must be acquired within 6-month period. EPA license, must be attainable within a 6-month period. Strong mechanical aptitude Strong decision making, organizational and analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to overcome unforeseen obstacles. Capable of using common hand tools, Gages, multimeters and hand operated power equipment. General understanding of Psychrometric equipment and tools. Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft products Ability to work independently and as part of a team. General understanding of the vapor compressor cycle and various refrigeration components Safety/Physical requirements

This position requires the incumbent’s presence onsite in the plant/in the office for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Incumbent must be able to access manufacturing and assembly areas on the shop floor in order to inspect units, investigate problems and/or potential solutions to problems, and to prove out potential solutions to problems. Capable of lifting/moving parts weighing 50 lbs. or less. Must pass background check and drug test. Requires bending, stooping and standing. Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day. (Overtime may extend the time period.) Good visual and spatial perception. Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc. Other Duties
