Overview
Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse Oncology Navigator. This is a Full time, day shift position in Woodbridge, VA.
Responsibilities The Oncology Navigator at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center will serve as the primary contact for patients experiencing oncology-related issues, providing empathetic support and comprehensive education on diagnoses and treatment options. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure seamless care by coordinating surgical schedules, performing insurance pre-authorizations, and facilitating timely access to appointments and tests. Your advocacy will empower patients by addressing their concerns, ensuring their voices are heard within the healthcare system, and guiding them to wellness and supportive care services. You will play a vital role in helping patients navigate their treatment journey with reassurance and clarity.
Education
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required
BSN or MSN Preferred
Certification/Licensure
For Integrated Care Management departments, specialty certification required within one year of eligibility (ACM, CCM, CCCTM, CMAC or CGMT-BC). For other service lines, certification based on specialty area required within one year of eligibility.
Registered Nurse Licensure
ONC certified RN preferred
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Experience
3 years Case Management experience preferred
3 years of Acute Care nursing experience required
1 year of navigator or education experience preferred
Oncology Nursing experience preferred
Radiation therapy experience Preferred
