Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure quality and timely patient care. Possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Under direct supervision of the RN circulator, the surgical technologist may assist with delegated tasks. This includes, ensuring the quality/quantity of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for Surgical Services. Maintains and evaluates operations to assure compliance to infection control standards and regulatory requirements. Utilizes phone and computer system to order supplies and maintain inventory system. Possesses expertise in sterile and aseptic technique and applies knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, surgical procedures, and tools/technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.

Education

High School diploma

Accredited program and maintenance of the CST credential or eligible for certification.

Applicant may be "grandfathered" with documented one year (cumulative) of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a surgical facility in the previous four years prior to January 1, 2015

Experience

Previous experience in an operating room preferred

Two-year health care clinical experience in ORSPD preferred.
