R-1166397The Import Specialist is responsible for managing all import activities for the Monterrey factory, including both real and virtual imports under the IMMEX program. This role ensures compliance with Mexican customs regulations, coordinates closely with customs brokers, and manages all documentation and permits required for timely and efficient import operations. The Import Specialist acts as a subject matter expert in import logistics and compliance, supporting the International Trade Lead and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.**Who You Are & What You’ll Do**
• Coordinate end-to-end import operations for the Monterrey factory, including real and virtual imports required by the IMMEX program.
• Liaise continuously with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies (e.g., SAT, SE) to ensure smooth customs clearance and regulatory adherence.
• Gather, validate, and manage import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, import permits, and shipping instructions) for both real and virtual imports.
• Administer import orders in ERP systems (SAP preferred), ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
• Monitor and track shipments from dispatch to delivery, proactively resolving delays or issues.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant trade regulations, including IMMEX, USMCA, CTPAT, AEO, and other applicable programs.
• Manage timely import permit applications via government portals and identify process improvement opportunities.
• Support audits and inspections by maintaining organized and accurate import records.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance import efficiency and reduce lead times.
• Provide regular updates and reports to leadership on import performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Act as a key liaison between factory operations, supply chain, customer service, and external logistics partners.
• Stay informed of regulatory changes and assess their impact on import operations.
• Participate in cross-functional projects related to new product launches, packaging changes, and logistics innovation.
• Train and guide junior team members or temporary staff involved in import activities.
**What You’ll Need To Succeed**
• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in international trade and import logistics, preferably handling shipments for manufacturing operations in Mexico.
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures, import documentation, and trade compliance (including IMMEX ,virtual imports, and ANNEX 24).
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred), TMS, and Excel.
• Familiarity with government agencies such as SAT, SE, and customs authorities.
• Fluent English.
• Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
