Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing has received approval by the Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) and has recently introduced an Associate of Arts degree in Nursing at the campus Adjunct RN (Med-Surg) Clinical Instructors wanted - Varies (we have rotations available for Weekends 12 hours plus 3 hours prep time) It is the belief of the faculty of the Nursing Department at Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing that each member should have defined responsibilities and that the Nursing Department accepts the responsibility of supporting its members in the achievement of both departmental and individual professional goals. POSITION SUMMARY The Adjunct RN Medical-Surgical Clinical Instructor provides supervision and instruction to nursing students in medical-surgical clinical settings. This role is responsible for guiding students in the application of nursing theory to direct patient care, ensuring safe practice, critical thinking, and competency development. The Clinical Instructor collaborates with faculty and clinical site staff to support student learning and uphold the mission and outcomes of the Associate of Arts in Nursing program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and evaluate nursing students in medical-surgical hospital or healthcare settings. Provide instruction and mentorship in patient assessment, care planning, interventions, medication administration, and documentation. Ensure clinical learning experiences align with course objectives and program learning outcomes. Monitor student performance, provide constructive feedback, and complete required evaluations. Serve as a role model for professional nursing practice, communication, and teamwork. Ensure compliance with institutional, programmatic, and clinical site policies, including patient safety and confidentiality. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, clinical hours, and performance assessments. Participate in faculty orientations, trainings, and required program meetings. Collaborate with the course lead and program leadership regarding student progress and clinical site concerns. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Nursing Program Director. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong clinical expertise in medical-surgical nursing. Ability to teach, mentor, and evaluate nursing students in diverse clinical environments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Commitment to patient safety, nursing ethics, and student success. Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred; BSN with significant med/surg experience may be considered (in alignment with state Board of Nursing requirements). Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing required. Prior teaching, precepting, or clinical education experience preferred.
