Overview
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology at Rutgers University. The Postdoctoral research associate will join Greta Bushnell, PhD and her team on NIMH-funded research focused on sleep medication use and safety in youth. The fellow will work with Dr. Greta Bushnell, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Rutgers School of Public Health and core member within the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science (PETS). The successful candidate will develop research skills under the mentorship of Dr. Bushnell through contributing to NIH-funded research in the areas of pharmacoepidemiology, mental health, and substance use. This is a two-year position, with a possible extension based on funding availability and performance. The posting can be viewed at: https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/258270. If of interest, opportunities are also available for teaching experiences with the School of Public Health for courses taught by PETS faculty. The fellow would have the opportunity to compose and submit their own grant with input and support from PETS and School of Public Health faculty. Responsibilities
Lead impactful research studies in pharmacoepidemiology, mental health, and substance use. Develop their own research questions and contribute to NIH-funded projects. Publish in scientific journals and present findings at conferences. Prepare and submit grant proposals with support from PETS and School of Public Health faculty. Engage in opportunities for teaching experiences with the School of Public Health (courses taught by PETS faculty) if available. Qualifications
A doctorate degree in pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, biostatistics or related field. Knowledge of pharmacoepidemiologic research methods with interest in mental health-focused research. Experience with administrative claims data analysis and programming skills in SAS or R. Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to present scientific findings and prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment, including with research analysts, scientists, and PETS trainees and faculty. Excellent organizational, planning, project management, and problem-solving skills.
