Assistant Coach - Strength and Conditioning

Join Howard University as an Assistant Coach in our Athletics Department. The role provides strength training to student-athletes and supports program goals.

Job Purpose

This position provides strength training to student-athletes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
  • Direct responsibilities for year-round programs for assigned teams.
  • Supervises athletics weight room, inventory, and maintenance.
  • Recommend purchases regarding strength and conditioning equipment.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic trainers regarding injuries, rehabilitation, and nutrition.
  • Coordinate with coaches regarding schedules and needs.
  • Commitment to and compliance with the University’s and Department of Athletics policies and procedures as well as the MEAC and NCAA constitutions, bylaws, legislation, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2-4 years of experience in college strength and conditioning.
  • CSCS and/or CSCCA Certification required.

Salary Range Disclosure

$45,000 - $55,000
