Accounting Manager (Regular, Full-time, Exempt, Onsite) – Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage budgets, maintain internal controls, analyze financial data, and prepare financial statements.

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting by supervising staff, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with internal controls, analyzing financial data, and preparing financial statements. The role includes proposing and winning new business and contributing technically to their area of expertise.

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential issues, acting with accountability to ensure the company’s financial health.
  • Work with senior management to provide financial insights and support for strategic decision‑making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ratios related to financial performance and reporting accuracy.
  • Reconcile accounts, including intercompany account eliminations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain fixed and intangible assets and manage corporate filings such as 571‑L, sales and use tax, estimated tax, etc.
  • Manage bank cash balances and perform cashflow reporting.
  • Perform job cost accounting duties and provide oversight of employee timekeeping and hours charged to projects.
  • Back up payroll processing bi‑weekly.
  • Oversee invoicing, cash receipts/collections, and vendor payments ensuring correct G/L postings and financial metrics (DSO/DPO).
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets.
  • Draft financial forecasts and projections.
  • Monitor expenses and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for audits/reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (GAAP, IRS, DCMA) and industry standards.
  • Actively contribute to implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of financial systems and software, including new ERP.
  • Identify areas for automation or system improvements to streamline accounting processes.
  • Participate in other special projects as required.

Key Relationships

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Finance and has one direct report.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in job cost accounting, payroll processing, financial reporting, reconciliations, period‑end close, tax, and audits.
  • Understanding of financial reporting, revenue recognition, GAAP, and IRS regulations.
  • Must be able to handle highly confidential information and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong self‑discipline, professional demeanor, and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficient user of ERP software; Accumatica is a plus.
  • Outstanding work ethic, passion for perfection, positive attitude, and dependability.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (Green Card holder) due to Government ITAR regulations.

  • Experience with Paycom Payroll software.

Salary Range

$95,000.00 - $105,000.00
